CityArts 2005 to Present

CityArts is one of Ireland's oldest arts organisations which specialises in socially engaged community arts practice. Over the decades, the organisation had adapted and faced challenges and in the process offered opportunity to a wide range of people from residents to emerging artists to come together and create work across a range of art forms.

Generally, at other times it provided a creative opportunity as well as personal and formative development. We continuously work with others in creating a contract of expectation in the City of Dublin that creative processes should be at the heart of community regeneration and renewal, irrespective of the prevailing winds of fashion or economics. We stand for people working in their community having the right and the opportunity to be creative and use that process for their own and their communities purposes.

We are funded from the resources of Dublin City Council and on occasion by the Irish Arts Council. The Heritage Council, the Irish Youth Foundation and other charitable bodies or local development programmes also assist us. We received major capital support from the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism and from Dublin City Council.
